A little preparation helps your skin heal well. Here is what we usually ask clients to do.
Before your visit
Avoid strong retinoids and exfoliating acids for several days. Skip sun exposure and tanning, and tell us if you have a cold sore history, are pregnant, or have a fish or seafood allergy. Arrive with a clean face if you can.
The first 24 hours
Expect pinkness, like a mild sunburn, and some tightness. Use only a gentle cleanser and moisturizer, keep makeup off, and avoid heat, heavy exercise and swimming.
The first week
Skin can feel dry or look slightly rough for a few days. Keep it moisturized, wear SPF every day, and do not pick at flaking.
When to call us
Call if you notice spreading redness, significant swelling, pus or a fever. These are uncommon, but you should not wait to ask.
Between sessions
A series of treatments spaced four to six weeks apart tends to do more than a single visit. Keep your routine simple and protected from sun in between.
