What is salmon DNA (PDRN) microneedling?

Salmon DNA microneedling sounds odd the first time you hear it. Here is what it actually is.

The two parts

Microneedling uses very fine needles to create tiny channels in the skin. The skin repairs itself afterwards, which supports collagen and can smooth texture over time. PDRN is a purified polynucleotide extract, commonly sourced from salmon DNA, that is applied to the skin after the needling.

What people use it for

Rough texture, fine lines, dull skin and the look of shallow acne marks. It is not a replacement for surgery or a quick fix for deep scars.

What the evidence says

Microneedling on its own is well studied. PDRN is newer, and much of what is written about it comes from the companies that sell it. We use it as a supportive step, not a promise.

What a visit is like

We numb the skin first, so most people feel pressure rather than pain. Your face will be pink for a day or two, like a mild sunburn. A series of sessions, spaced several weeks apart, usually does more than a single visit. Tell us beforehand if you have a fish allergy, are pregnant, or have active acne.
